CEO and Co-Founder, Dr. Chris Heylman, attended the “I Am A UC Entrepreneur Award Luncheon” on May 5, 2017, in Oakland, CA, hosted by UC President Janet Napolitano and Christine Gulbranson, UC’s Senior Vice President of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Dr. Heylman was one of the nineteen winners chosen from more than 300 UC students, faculty, and staff who submitted their 30 sec pitches this past winter as part of the “I am a UC entrepreneur” campaign (see Dr. Heylman’s pitch). At the luncheon, Dr. Heylman met and pitched Velox’s vision to some of Silicon Valley’s leading venture capitalists.
Velox was featured in the Startup Spotlight article of the Jan/Feb Issue of Cove Currents Magazine. The article, titled “Innovation in the evolving battle against sepsis and antibiotic resistant bacteria” includes highlights from interviews with CEO, Dr. Chris Heylman, and CCO, Dr. Byron Shen discussing Velox’s development of an instrument for the rapid diagnosis of sepsis and antibiotic resistance.
Dr. Weian Zhao, founder and scientific advisor of Velox will speak at the 2016 EMBS Micro and Nanotechnology in Medicine Conference held in Waikoloa, Hawaii December 12-16. This year’s conference is focused on “Translating Technology from the Bench to the Bedside”. Dr. Zhao’s talk will be featured in session focused on Diagnosing and Treating Bloodstream Infections.

Dr. Weian Zhao, Velox Founder, has been selected as a Keynote Speaker at this year’s SELECTBIO Next Generation Sequencing, Single Cell Analysis, Single Molecule Analysis & Mass Spectrometry: Research to Diagnostics Meeting.
